Funny Paper Moments

This is how I found Miss Kate one morning. Just sitting quietly looking at the funny paper! She was really engrossed and in the one picture she is all excited and pointing to the Garfield comic strip.




This is a picture of Katie with her horse that she calls "Monkey." We haven't quite figured that one out yet! She has a scrap piece of fleece tied around him and she takes him on walks. It's actually quite comical to watch her walk him down the steps. It's more of a free fall than a walk for poor Mr. Monkey!

The End Result

After finishing the track lighting project in our office, we painted and put up the casing around where the entertainment stand sits. We can finally cross this off our list of things to do!

What'd I do?

These pictures are from last May. We were in the Detroit airport and we got pretty tired of carrying our luggage, diaper bag, Katie's carseat and Katie. So, Jason improvised and here is his plan in action! We strapped the carseat to the suitcase! Needless to say, there were many second glances cast Katie's direction. Everyone was commenting on what a cool idea that was. It sure freed up our hands and made traversing through the airport much, much easier!

All Tuckered Out

This is how I found Katie after a hard morning and afternoon of playing. She is sleeping under the new Princess fleece blanket that Mamaw, Grandma D and mommy made for her!

Chocolate Macaroon Brownies

I made these for a church meeting we had this week. They are quite easy to make and really are delicious.

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

MACAROON FILLING:
1 package (14 ounces) flaked coconut
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

FROSTING:
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine the flour, cocoa and cream of tartar; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Spread half into a greased 9x13 baking pan.

2. For filling, combine the coconut, condensed milk and vanilla; carefully spread over batter in pan. Top with remaining batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

3. For frosting, combine the sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan; cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add the marshmallows and chocolate chips; cook and stir until melted. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Cool until frosting reaches spreading consistency, about 25 minutes. Spread over the cooled brownies. Cut into bars.

Our Miss Priss

These are some pictures of Katie from before church on Sunday morning. She was really into posing for her mommy. Believe me, I wasn't about to turn down the opportunity to get some more pictures of her. It is very hard to get pictures of her actually sitting still. So, here they are, enjoy!!

Airplane Humor

This was sent to Jason courtesy of our Pastor. Jason has gotten quite a few laughs out of this, so we thought we'd pass it along!


After every flight, pilots fill out a form (called a "gripe sheet," at some airlines) which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

Track Lighting Project

Well, after quite a bit of work, Jason's track lighting is finally installed over our entertainment stand. If everyone would permit me just a moment, I would like to say he did a superb job. (Jason will probably throttle me when he reads this!) He is quite perfectionistic when it comes to his work and it ultimately shows with fantastic end results! Now, back to the track lighting. We are so excited about how this turned out. We have envisioned the lighting above the entertainment stand for quite a while, but now we can finally see it in reality! It has changed the entire look of our family room!

Salute to the Military

This is a new collection of photos that I have put together in the last few months. Our family room is decorated with a patriotic/flying theme, and these photos fit very comfortably in their surroundings. We are very grateful and indebted to our family members as well as every other soldier that has willingly and proudly pledged their allegiance in serving their country to keep us living in a free land! I caught Katie pushing around my old fashioned doll buggy today, and these were some of her reactions to getting her picture taken. I don't normally let her play with this as it is more of a show piece rather than a toy, but I guess every once in awhile won't hurt!!

Remodeling our Dining Room

Meet Kaitlynne Michelle

This is our Miss Katie. She is a loving, precocious and very energetic little girl. She will be 3 years old on February 27th. Katie's bedroom is decorated with the Disney Princess theme and she has quite a few princess theme toys to go along with it. She loves to watch Tom & Jerry and anything with Donald Duck or Chip & Dale!
