Colonial Williamsburg, VA - Governor's Palace

Here are some pictures from our first day when we went to Colonial Williamsburg. We had a blast, it was so much fun! Katie got to ride in a carriage drawn by 2 horses. Their names were "General" and "Brigadier!" Oh my, did she ever enjoy herself. She was not ready to get out when the ride was over! What a fun and educational day learning about some of the history this town holds!

From the 1930s until 1980 the reconstructed Palace was elegantly furnished with fine British and American antiques arranged in what is now recognized as the Colonial Revival style. Subsequent research confirmed that the rooms, though handsome, bore little resemble to their 18th-century counterparts. In 1981, the detailed 1770 estate inventory of Governor Botetourt's furnishings enabled curators to replicate the interior decor of the 18th-century with precision.

Further revisions were made to the furnishings in 2006, when Botetourt’s bachelor household gave way to a new arrangement reflecting the presence of Governor Dunmore, who resided at the Palace with his wife and six of their seven children. The new installation included Lady Dunmore’s large dressing room, sleeping space for the Dunmore children, and a highly accurate replication of the arms arrangement in the front hall.

These excerpts were taken from the Official Colonial Williamsburg website.

Yankee Candle's Flagship Store

Yankee Candle in Williamsburg, VA Inside Yankee Candle's Holiday Park "I Love You, Daddy!"

Holiday Display

This was the neatest store to go through. It's sort of set up like a shopping mall inside with different stores you can wonder through, but it's all through Yankee Candle. Here is what a travel website had to say about it:

Nothing compares to Yankee Candle for creating a lasting impression. With 10,000 square feet of unique, interactive shopping and fun entertainment it’s more than you can imagine. We are one of the world's largest candle stores with 250,000 candles and more than 150 different scents. Stroll through our Holiday Park and experience the Christmas spirit everyday. Enjoy original animated musical entertainment and activities like candle dipping. Plus, savor freshly made fudge, snacks and quick meals in the store or grab a sandwich at our cafe.

Needless to say we had a wonderful time browsing through this store. We ended up going back a couple nights later. Miss Kate really enjoyed her time here as well. They had 2 trains set up running constantly up by the ceiling. Between watching the trains run, standing under their falling snow and being able to play with a Thomas the Train display, she was in her glory. The funny thing was, she recognized the store every time we drove past and she wanted to stop each time. If you ever go to Williamsburg, this is definitely a MUST STOP place!

Katie's Contemplations!

There's me and Daddy!
See teeth? Yucky!
Dumo, my fwiend!
Giddy up!
Aww, monkey!
Here are a few of Katie's thoughts when she looked at the pictures from today. Jason, Katie and I went to the Toledo Zoo with our pastor's family and we all had a blast! It was a relaxing and rejuvenating day with friends! Definitely one for the memory book! Katie had so much fun riding in the wagon (she calls it a train) with Melanie, Alayna & Josiah. In the one picture above, Katie was holding onto Alayna's pigtails and pretending she was a horsie! One of Katie's new fascinations besides trains has become horses and she loves to pretend! Well, look for some more pictures tomorrow!

Template changes!

Well, I think that I'll be happy with this template. The more that I looked at the last one, the less I liked it. Wasn't really my style I guess. This one I think suits me much better. Sorry about the constant changes. Hopefully once I get my links and all back up I can put up some more pictures! Hope you all have a great Wednesday!
